The City Within The City
January, 19th 2012
It’s no accident that the OFFPRICE Show has made its home in Las Vegas since 1995. Visitors continue to flock to the city. Consider, according to the current Figures released last August reported by Expo Magazine, visitor volume for Vegas increased 4.7 percent. No matter who you are and what interests you, there is no shortage of things to do in America’s Playground. Fine dining, casual dining, bars and night clubs of all shapes and sizes, the best gaming in the country, spas and world class entertainment in theatres up and down the strip greet everyone descending upon Vegas.
The question for you when you’re leaving the OFFPRICE Show for the day isn’t wondering if there is anything going on, but rather, “Where do I start?” But don’t over think where to start. The OFFPRICE Show is in Halls A & B at the Sands Expo and Convention Center and if you are staying at one of the reserved block of rooms at the Venetian, you walk past a wealth of dining, entertainment and nightlife options in route to your room. The Sands, The Venetian and its sister resort, The Palazzo combine to offer its guests all of the options they need to have a memorable stay in Las Vegas. The resort is one of the biggest on the strip, truly creating a city within the city.
The Venetian triumphs in recreating the glory of Venice: the famous landmarks, winding canals, authentic gondolas, arched bridges and soaring architecture, while capturing the spirit of the fabled Italian city. The Palazzo is highlighted by a ἀagship, 85,000-square-foot Barneys New York with The Shoppes at The Palazzo featuring more than 60 luxury boutiques. The Palazzo also offers a variety of cuisines from a collection of award-winning chefs such as Carnevino by Mario Batali, CUT by Wolfgang Puck and Table 10 by Emeril Lagasse. But that is truly just the beginning. The Sands, The Venetian and The Palazzo offer so much more.
“There is no better way to experience Las Vegas than staying at The Venetian and The Palazzo,” said Dawn Britt, director of communications for the resorts. “It’s truly a city within these resort walls. One million square feet of high-end retail boutiques, all-suite accommodations, Canyon Ranch SpaClub, luxurious pools, more than 30 restaurants – you never have to venture away.” If you want to kick back a bit before hitting all the great amenities, you can relax and enjoy a famous gondola ride, ἀoating down the Venetian’s Grand Canal. The quarter-mile-long Canal winding throughout the shopping center also features a separate outdoor, open-air ride that culminates in an overlook of The Strip.
At the end of a busy day shopping fashion trade shows, a person can work up quite an appetite while also wanting to unwind, kick back and enjoy a cocktail. The Venetian offers 18 culinary havens, including seven James Beard Award Winners, all within minutes of the resort suites and meeting spaces. The Palazzo rolls out 14 dining options. You can save all the walking for the show floor while you treat your taste buds!
Pick your poison. The authentic French country fare restaurant, Bouchon, modeled after the original bouchons of Lyon served in an elegant dining area or the airy and opulent garden patio of the Venetian features bistro classics such as steak frites, roasted chicken, and delicious desserts served up by two-time James Beard Award winner, Thomas Keller. Another fantastic option is Delmonico, an All-American steakhouse with New Orleans inἀuences by world-renowned Chef Emeril Lagasse, rated the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ by Esquire Magazine. No trip to the Italian-themed Venetian is complete without a stop at ZefḀrino Ristorante, created by world-renowned chef-to-the-stars, Paolo “ZefḀrino” Belloni. The ristorante imports a signiḀcant number of ingredients from Italy and bake its breads on the premises daily.
The Palazzo rolls out a wealth of fantastic dining options as well. Carnevino was named the Best Steakhouse in Las Vegas by Las Vegas Weekly. Another Ḁne option is Sushisamba, where Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian inἀuences inspire dynamic cuisine and a vibrant Carnavale-inspired ambience. Chefs craft inspired and traditional nigiri, make, seviche and tradito plates. FIRST Food & Bar brings the authenticity and character of the neighborhood bar and diner back to life. The décor is great giving the restaurant an intimate and edgy feel.
“The Venetian and The Palazzo is the top dining destination in Las Vegas and offers everything for every palate,” said Sebastien Silvestri, vice president of food and beverage. “We have Thomas Keller, Mario Batali, Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang Puck and Luciano Pellegrini all under one roof, along with Sammy DeMarco making creative dishes at FIRST Food & Bar and the new contemporary tavern Public House with Nevada’s first and only certified beer cicerone. This is truly a diverse culinary destination.”
The number of options for entertainment seekers on the grounds of the Venetian and Palazzo is staggering. Trying to catch a glimpse of some Hollywood A-Listers while in town for Fashion Week? LAVO is the latest hotspot in town and has quickly become the latest celebrity haven. The lounge, restaurant and nightclub is inspired by the bathhouses of ancient Mediterranean culture. The LAVO patio features the Ḁrst hookah lounge directly on Las Vegas Boulevard.
Should you still have a desire to rub elbows with even more recognizable faces from Hollywood, TAO Nightclub in the Venetian boasts the most alluring club and lounge on The Strip! Lush velvets and silks, waterfalls and a 20-foot-tall Buddha floating serenely above an infinity pool provide an ideal backdrop to limitless possibilities. A who’s who of Hollywood’s elite has frequented TAO: Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and more!
No trip to Vegas, for business or pleasure, is complete without doing some gaming. The Venetian and Palazzo provide all of your favorite gaming activities. 120,000-square-foot casino at the Venetian and a 105,000-square-foot casino within the Palazzo combine to offer guests more than 300 table games and more than 3,000 slot machines, varying in denomination range from pennies to $500. Although the OFFPRICE Show is a week after the Super Bowl, the sports book located inside Lagasse’s Stadium features all the important games and events on flat screen TV’s, running scores and stats on every game that’s unfolding. Taking the sports gaming category a step farther, you can grab the handheld gaming device, pocketcasino, that allows users to bet before and during the game on the money line, point spread and over/under. You can even do your wagering on-the-go, walking the grounds of the Venetian by using the recently launched Cantor Gaming Android® compatible mobile sports wagering app from your cell phone or tablet. The app was launched in October 2011.
Despite spending your daytime hours shopping the Fashion Week shows, you can still Ḁnd time to hit The Shoppes at The Palazzo. The Shoppes feature lots of the luxury brands under one-roof. It’s a who’s who of fashion industry stores: Chloe, Michael Kors, Poleci, Thomas Pink, Jimmy Choo, Burberry and more all call The Palazzo home. The Shoppes at The Palazzo is anchored by an 85,000-square-foot flagship Barneys New York, considered by many to be the ultimate Mecca for the fashion-forward.So before making a beeline to the doors to head out onto The Strip following the show, consider all the options available to you without having to do any additional walking. After spending all day on your feet at the OFFPRICE Show. You deserve a break.
